Be Grateful

If the only prayer you say in your whole life is ’Thank You’, that will suffice.

Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.
Appreciation is like an insurance policy. It has to be renewed every now and then.

Birds sing after a storm; why shouldn’t people feel free to delight in whatever remains to them?

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as a bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.

To be upset over what you do not have is to waste what you do have.

Health is… a blessing money cannot buy.

Think of the ills from which you are exempt.

“Count your blessings, not your crosses, count your gains, not your losses, count your joys instead of your woes, count your friends instead of your foes, count your health and not your wealth.”
– Old Irish Poem

Take a moment to ponder and reflect…

Always be grateful; contentment is the key to peace and happiness.

  1. Dear Mr Bismark,

I am ‘grateful’ to receive Gems of Wisdom from you. These are very powerful guidelines and refreshing for my soul. Thank you for putting in your time to think of others and to assist them for their hard work and efforts.

My favourite words from the Gems of Wisdom:

Count your blessings, not your crosses, count your gains, not your losses, count your joys instead of your woes, count your friends instead of your foes, count your health and not your wealth.

  2. Dear Hwee Wen Lim,

That is very nice to hear that you appreciate the daily ‘Gems’. Please continue to read them and share them with others. Most importantly, apply whatever little things you learn from them and that will help you to make a difference.

Make the positive changes that you want to see in this company, beginning with you. I can assure you that we will be successful in getting the rest to follow our example.

As this famous verse in the Bhagavad Gita states:

“Whatever action is performed by a great man, common men follow in his footsteps. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.”
    – Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 text 21

“People in general always require a leader who can teach the public by practical behaviour. A leader cannot teach the public to stop smoking if he himself smokes. A teacher should behave properly even before he begins teaching. One who teaches in that way is called acarya, or the ideal teacher.

The king or the executive head of a state, a company director…..or a manager….the father and the school teacher are all considered to be natural leaders of the innocent people in general. All such natural leaders have a great responsibility to their dependents; therefore they must be conversant with standard books of moral and spiritual codes.”

Please take a moment to ponder and reflect…

Let’s help in setting up an example for others to follow, let us live and act what we want to see in others.

    Sincerely,
